We can not get enough of the Carmen Carrera video that followed her a-m-a-z-i-n-g Show Girl photoshoot. See it for yourself and then watch it again.
Carmen Carrera: Show Girl Photoshoot
We have been talking non-stop on Facebook about the Carmen Carrera: Show Girl photoshoot. If you haven’t heard of Carmen Carrera before, she came to fame as a transgender American reality TV star. She first appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Then went onto the spin-off series RuPaul’s Drag U.
Since starring on the shows, Carmen Carrera has become the darling burlesque dancer of the high fashion world. In August 2013 this photoshoot saw her teaming up with W Magazine and Steven Meisel. As if we didn’t have to thank photographer Steven Meisel enough for his work in Madonna‘s Sex book.
Alongside these stunning images Carmen Carrera wrote a truly inspiring autobiographical essay for W Magazine. Spoiler alert, it has an empowering finish and sticks the landing. She said, “It hasn’t been easy—especially when it comes to dating. I tell people I’m transgender, and they bring up all the negative stereotypes that come from ignorance. I don’t have time to play psychologist, so I try to lead by example.
“I want to leave something behind so people can look back one day and say, “Wow, remember when transpeople were discriminated against the most? This person was like, “Screw everybody! I’m going to parade around half-naked and be superproud, because that’s how everyone should be!””
