Howard Wilmot

Howard Wilmot

Artistic Director

Artistic Director Howard Wilmot heads up the Burlexe team; his background is in communications, particularly digital.

One of the first journalists to move online in 1999, he subsequently worked on the digital campaigns for lead players in the music business, for various brands and media – check LinkedIn for the deets if that’s of interest.

A creative strategist and content expert, he’s always wanted to create entertainment formats that straddle the real world and digital. He created Burlexe as a means of self-expression after seeing a (particularly uninspired) show in Vegas. When he got fucked off with knocking on a whole lot of doors with his idea, he decided to do it himself.

Serena Doherty

Serena Doherty

Serena Doherty writes for and looks after the Burlexe site – with style. And has done so since 2011.

She has an eye on and love for everything burlesque from the world’s best performers to the very best in fashion and beauty and has helped bring the Burlexe vision to life, build our (beautiful) audience and been super-brilliant to work with. She’s the one who’s been cyber-stalking you across every platform (in a nice way!).

In her non-Burlexey, burlesquey life, she’s a freelance writer, blogger, social media manager and general scribbler.

Burlexe Team

Holly Symmons

Fashionista and stylist Holly Symmons is the newest member of the team and is responsible for bringing that “VA-VA-VOOM” to Burlexe.

Holly is a fashion expert and perfectionist within her field. She has previously worked for companies like Monsoon, Accessorize and TopShop as well as freelancing as a fashion stylist, visual merchandiser and personal shopper.

Holly’s vision is to bring an element of high street fashion to meet the glitz and glam of burlesque.
